Amazon's order processing and shipping services have always impressed me. Free shipping and fair prices get my attention, but more than that, they've become one of the companies that I know I can rely on and trust.
If you're familiar with their "free shipping" option, you know that the site explicitly indicates to allow an additional 3 - 5 days to the normal delivery cycle. I'm happy to say that my orders tend to arrive within 4 days. That is until this time.
Yesterday afternoon about 2:00pm I ordered a Palm Z22 from Amazon. By 7:00pm I received an email confirmation that the order had shipped. That caught my attention. It seemed a little speedier than usual. This morning at about 11:00am my UPS guy is at my door.
Sure enough, the Palm Z22 was in my hands in less than 24 hours, even though I selected the "slow boat" shipping option. Needless to say, I'm more than delighted!
Amazon made a choice to create a great customer experience. They could have let that order sit in their processing system for a few more days. After all, I did select the "slow boat". But instead, they chose to run it through their system as if I had paid for overnight shipping.
In my book, that qualifies as a Random Act of Service!
That's impressive Amazon! This customer appreciates a great experience. I'll be back!
